A long conversation I had with Kader Attia as part of the series of podcasts he imagined with Anselm Franke and Ana Teixeira Pinto as a continuation of the anti-fascist conference « The White West », anticipating the next symposium scheduled for July 9 at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt. I’m honoured to be surrounded by such brillant minds as Françoise Vergès, David C. Lloyd, Dirk Moses and Nikhil Pal Singh. Kader and I talked about the so-called French « universalism » as a particular colonial gaze and positionality, about french banlieues and class/race imagination, and also issues of language and translation in the European Black epistemology. (talk in english)
